How It all Started
In 1985, R. Jean Addams opened Addams & Associates as a financial and tax consulting practice. In 2022, his son Michael R. Addams left state employment and opened his own law practice in Spokane, Washington. After opening, he decided to adopt the name Addams & Associates as a nod to the business his father used to operate years before. Like his father, Michael operates his practice remotely, without a brick and mortar office. In 1985, Jean used a dedicated phone line at home and a PO Box. Today, Michael uses a variety of digital tools to operate the practice remotely, limiting the need to travel for the practice and for clients.

Michael R. Addams, Attorney At Law
Michael R Addams attended Gonzaga University School of Law where he studied as a Thomas More scholar. While studying Law he concurrently earned a Masters of Business Administration at Gonzaga’s Graduate School of Business. Prior to his graduate studies he attended Weber State University where he studied Criminal Justice and Communications and graduated cum laude.
As an attorney, Michael has practiced primarily in the areas of criminal, family, and juvenile law and estate planning. He is contracted by the City of Cheney as the municipal prosecutor, and serves as a Commissioner Pro Tempore in the Spokane County Superior Court and Judge Pro Tempore in the Spokane County District Court. Michael also serves on the board of the Spokane non-profit, CASA Partners.
Michael is also a faculty member at Eastern Washington University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate classes on business law and serves in the Washington Air National Guard. But to him, his most important job is as a father to four children that he raises with his wife, Amber.
Josh Addams, Administrative
Josh Addams assists with clerical and administrative duties at Addams & Associates. He helps behind the scenes to keep the office running smoothly. Josh is a student at Ferris High School and is active in student government. When he isn't at work, in class, or running on a trail, you will find him playing the piano, the banjo, or one of the many other instruments that he loves to play.
